Soup run
Every Saturday evening, members of The Beacon Church join with a team of volunteers from, Poole Christian Fellowship, St Michael’s Church of England in Hamworthy and its sister church St Gabriel’s in Turlin Moor to bring hot and cold food, clothes and a listening ear to the many homeless in Poole.
We try to work in teams of 4 (2 guys and 2 ladies) and meet up at Beacon Church, Canford Heath to load up our supplies and pray before heading down to Towngate bridge for 8.30 pm where we are able to give out items such as hot drinks, filled rolls, snacks and confectionery/sweet items. Subject to what people have donated we are also able to provide items of clothing and sleeping bags/duvets. Everything is gratefully received.
Several of our helpers have recently stood down or moved into other areas of service but we are encouraged that new people have joined the team to share the workload. We continue to find our Lord to be faithful each week supplying exactly what we need as from time to time numbers can fluctuate quite dramatically. Despite there sometimes being some interesting characters and situations there are frequently times to share a word and a prayer with those we come into contact with.
Although we are not part of Routes to Roots www.routestoroots.org who do so much for homeless and vulnerably housed folk in Poole, we do work closely with them – as do the other Soup Run and Drop-In teams.
We look forward to “keeping on keeping on”!

- Mars bars,
- Warm clothing etc.
If you are unable to help please don’t forget to pray for these folk and those who help.
